San Diego – August 26, 2014– Storix, Inc., providers of disaster recovery solutions for Linux and Unix systems, today announced the general availability of System Backup Administrator (SBAdmin) version 8.2.1.0, which includes support for the latest release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) version 7.

“The RHEL7 boot process is significantly different from previous releases and we have worked very hard to ensure customers have the protection they need,” said David Huffman, President/CEO of Storix, Inc. “As a Red Hat Ready Partner, we have been working for some time to ensure our support was available soon after the RHEL7 release.”

Red Hat’s update to version 7 includes major changes to the low-level utilities and infrastructure of their Linux operating system. Most notably, Red Hat added the Docker implementation of Linux containers, which is set to replace traditional virtual machines. SBAdmin is designed to back up systems with Linux containers and provide flexible full-system recovery to dissimilar hardware using their unique Adaptable System Recovery (ASR) process.

Supported New RHEL7 Features:

  • Docker Linux containers
  • Process and service management with systemd
  • New network device management
  • XFS filesystem support
  • Grub2 bootloader support
  • Additional driver support available for RHEL7

Support for the latest RHEL7 also includes derivative distributions such as Oracle Enterprise Linux 7 and the popular CentOS 7. SBAdmin supports RHEL7 and derivatives on x86_64 and IBM Powerlinux.
