ZFS Filesystem Migration
The Solaris Zeta File System (ZFS) provides the most simple and flexible software storage available for UNIX. SBAdmin is the only solution which provides full system backup and recovery that includes full ZFS filesystem support:
ZFS Filesystem Migration
  • Convert file systems from UFS to ZFS
  • Migrate root (/) on UFS to root on ZFS
  • Migrate from disk slices to ZFS Volumes
  • Migrate from Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) to ZFS
  • Create new Zpools and ZFS Virtual Devices
  • Create new ZFS filesystems
  • Move ZFS volumes and filesystems to different zpools
  • Rename ZFS pools & volumes

SBAdmin for Solaris not only allows you to recover existing filesystems, but also to migrate to ZFS from other UFS filesystems created on disk slices or Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) meta-devices.

SBAdmin will rebuild the entire system from the ground up, reclaiming space on slices for use in Zpools, creating the ZFS virtual devices and filesystems, and restoring the data. When complete, the system is rebooted and your new system is up and running.
